Who We Are
Hamilton Steering Upgrades was born from a simple idea: your car's steering wheel is the one
part you touch 100% of the time. It should feel perfect. Based in Hamilton, we are a specialized
mobile service dedicated to the art of steering wheel customization. We travel across the
Waikato region to provide face-to-face, high-quality technical services.
Our History
Founded by a car enthusiast with over 15 years of experience in auto upholstery and
modification, our journey began in a small Hamilton garage. We saw a gap in the market for
high-end, bespoke steering wheel services that didn't require shipping parts overseas. By
developing a mobile workshop, we brought the service directly to our clients, ensuring minimal
downtime for their vehicles.
Fun Fact: The Midnight Fix
One of our most memorable jobs was for a farmer near Matamata. He had a prized vintage Ford
tractor he was taking to a show, but his dog had chewed the steering wheel the night before. He
called us in a panic. We drove out at 10 PM and worked under floodlights in his barn,
hand-stitching new leather. We finished at 3 AM. He went on to win 'Best Vintage Restoration' at
the show. That's the dedication we bring to every job.
